The maintenance cycle for oil storage tanks is not fixed but needs to be scientifically planned based on equipment condition, stored media, and industry standards. Its maintenance frequency mainly covers the following four core dimensions:
1. Routine Comprehensive Inspection and Cleaning Cycle
For regularly operating oil storage tanks, the industry typically requires a comprehensive internal inspection and cleaning every few years. This cycle aims to effectively remove impurities and moisture deposited at the bottom of the tank, while assessing the corrosion rate and wall thinning of the tank's steel plates. If the stored media is clean and anti-corrosion measures are reliable, the comprehensive inspection cycle can be appropriately extended after professional evaluation to optimize operation and maintenance costs.

2. Annual Routine Inspection and External Assessment
In addition to the longer comprehensive overhaul cycle, oil storage tanks must strictly adhere to an annual inspection system. Annual inspections mainly focus on external macroscopic checks, particularly checking for external deformation of the tank body, peeling of anti-corrosion coatings, foundation settlement, and whether the grounding resistance for lightning protection and static electricity prevention meets standards. Through frequent annual assessments, general defects that may affect safe operation can be identified and eliminated in a timely manner.

3. Dynamic Adjustment Based on Risk and Corrosion Status Maintenance cycles should be determined based on a risk-based inspection strategy. If daily monitoring reveals strong corrosiveness of the medium, or severe localized thinning of the tank body and weld defects, the maintenance cycle must be shortened decisively, and even annual thickness checks of the tank top and walls may be necessary. Conversely, for clean medium storage tanks in good technical condition with adequate monitoring measures, maintenance time can be flexibly arranged according to actual needs.

4. Routine Inspections and Safety Accessory Calibration
In addition to regular specialized maintenance, routine maintenance of oil storage tanks is equally important. Operators must conduct frequent routine inspections and clean and calibrate critical safety accessories such as breather valves, flame arresters, and safety valves annually. Furthermore, the foam fire extinguishing system and sprinkler cooling line must be regularly cleaned and test-fired to ensure that all safety protection facilities are readily available and functional in emergency situations.
