Proper corrosion protection for Steel Diesel Fuel Storage Tanks is crucial for ensuring energy security and extending equipment lifespan. Considering the characteristics of diesel fuel and the complex internal and external environment, the corrosion protection system needs to be constructed from the following four dimensions:
1. Inner Wall Conductive and Oil-Resistant Coating Protection
Diesel fuel is prone to static electricity buildup during flow and handling. Therefore, the inner wall of the Steel Diesel Fuel Storage Tank must be coated with a specialized epoxy oil-resistant conductive coating. This type of coating effectively isolates oil corrosion while safely dissipating static electricity, eliminating fire hazards. Before application, the inner wall must undergo rigorous sandblasting to remove rust, ensuring the primer and topcoat thicknesses meet standards, thus forming a robust oil-resistant and corrosion-resistant barrier.
2. External Wall Long-Lasting Heavy-Duty Anti-Corrosion Coating System
The outer wall of the storage tank is constantly exposed to the atmosphere and must resist the erosion of ultraviolet radiation, wind, rain, and marine salt spray. A typical solution uses a "primer + intermediate coat + topcoat" combination: an epoxy zinc-rich primer provides cathodic protection, an epoxy micaceous iron oxide intermediate coat constructs a labyrinthine impermeable barrier layer, and finally, a weather-resistant aliphatic polyurethane topcoat or fluorocarbon paint serves as the outer armor, ensuring long-term gloss and color retention without chalking.
3. Tank Bottom Reinforcement and Cathodic Protection Technology
The tank bottom is a major corrosion hotspot, highly susceptible to severe electrochemical corrosion due to prolonged contact with deposited saline solution. In addition to using thick-film epoxy glass flake coatings for physical isolation, it is strongly recommended to install a sacrificial anode (such as aluminum-based or zinc-based alloy) cathodic protection system on the outer or inner wall of the Steel Diesel Fuel Storage Tank bottom to completely block the corrosion process through electrochemical means.
4. Summer Heat Insulation and Radiation Protection
To address the potential diesel fuel evaporation and safety risks caused by high temperatures and direct sunlight in summer, an anti-radiation, sun-protective, and heat-insulating coating can be applied to the outer wall of the Steel Diesel Fuel Storage Tank. This coating effectively reflects solar radiation heat, significantly reducing the surface and internal temperature of the tank and suppressing the "breathing" phenomenon of oil. This not only reduces the risk of fire at the source but also reduces the accelerated aging of the coating caused by high temperature and humidity environments.
