The gauge port is a critical interface on the top of the Steel Diesel Fuel Storage Tank used for measuring liquid level and sampling. Its sealing performance directly affects oil evaporation loss and fire safety. To ensure its tightness, design and maintenance typically require consideration of the following four aspects:

1. High-precision flange connection and gasket selection: The sealing of the gauge port relies on its flange connection structure. During the manufacturing of the Steel Diesel Fuel Storage Tank, the gauge port flange face must undergo rigorous machining to ensure a smooth and flat surface. During connection, a dedicated gasket that is oil-resistant, aging-resistant, and possesses good resilience must be selected to fill the tiny gaps between the metal flange faces, forming the first physical barrier.

2. Explosion-proof hinge cover and mechanical clamping device: To prevent the introduction of external sparks and resist internal pressure, the gauge port must be equipped with a sealing cover with an explosion-proof hinge. This sealing cover is usually equipped with a mechanical clamping device. After each gauging operation, the operator must ensure the sealing cap is tightly fitted to the flange face and firmly tighten the mechanical device. Continuous mechanical pressure forces the internal sealing gasket to elastically deform, thus completely blocking the oil and gas leakage path.

3. Anti-corrosion Coating and Sealing Surface Protection: The Steel Diesel Fuel Storage Tank gauging flange, exposed to the outdoors for extended periods, is highly susceptible to corrosion from rain and salt spray. If the sealing contact surface rusts or develops pits, even tightening the cap will cause seal failure. Therefore, a high-quality weather-resistant and anti-corrosion paint must be applied to the exterior of the gauging opening and the non-contact surfaces of the flange. Furthermore, during daily operation, it is strictly forbidden to strike or scratch the sealing surface with hard objects to ensure it remains clean and intact at all times.

4. Regular Inspection and Preventative Replacement of Seals: Sealing materials will gradually age, harden, or lose elasticity under prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation and immersion in oil and gas. Therefore, the gauging opening must be included in the regular inspection checklist for the Steel Diesel Fuel Storage Tank. During inspection, it is essential not only to confirm that the cover is locked, but also to periodically open and check the physical condition of the internal sealing gaskets. If any cracks, deformation, or thinning are found in the gaskets, they must be replaced immediately as a preventative measure to nip potential leaks in the bud.
