How should a fuel transcube tank be properly grounded to prevent static electricity

1. Select a suitable grounding device
The suitability of the grounding device is fundamental to effective anti-static protection. Dedicated anti-static grounding clamps should be preferred. The clamps must have good conductivity and fit tightly against the metal parts of the tank to avoid poor contact affecting the grounding effect. The grounding wire should be a copper core cable with a cross-sectional area conforming to specifications to ensure smooth current conduction. The cable's outer insulation layer must be oil-resistant and wear-resistant to adapt to the fuel working environment and prevent grounding failure due to cable damage.
2. Follow the standard grounding operation procedure
Correct operation procedures ensure grounding effectiveness. Before grounding, clean oil and rust from the grounding area of the tank to ensure a clean metal surface and improve the contact conductivity between the grounding clamp and the tank. Securely clamp the grounding clamp onto the metal body of the tank, avoiding clamping on coated, painted areas or non-metallic parts. If a grounding electrode needs to be connected, ensure that the grounding electrode is inserted into the ground to a sufficient depth and is securely connected to the grounding wire to form a complete grounding loop.
3. Regularly check the effectiveness of the grounding
Regular checks are crucial for maintaining grounding functionality. Before each use, check the grounding clamp for damage, loose clamps, broken cables, etc. Use a grounding resistance tester to check the grounding loop resistance, ensuring the resistance value meets safety standards to prevent static electricity from failing to dissipate due to excessive grounding resistance. During operation, check for grounding clamps falling off due to vibration. If any grounding abnormality is found, stop work immediately, re-address the issue, and then continue.
4. Pay attention to grounding treatment in special scenarios
Special scenarios require targeted strengthening of grounding protection. In dry environments, the frequency of grounding checks can be increased appropriately, as static electricity accumulates more easily under dry conditions, ensuring that grounding is always effective. If the tank is moved, the grounding must be reconfirmed after each move to prevent the grounding device from shifting during the move. When there is strong electromagnetic interference in the work area, check whether the grounding system is affected, and take shielding measures if necessary to prevent interference with static electricity discharge.
