How to prevent diesel fuel in a diesel storage tank from deteriorating

1. Regulate the Storage Environment
Place the tank in a cool, well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight to minimize the impact of high temperatures on diesel fuel and prevent accelerated oxidation. Also, keep it away from humid environments to prevent moisture from entering the tank, as moisture mixed with diesel fuel will form an emulsion, damaging the diesel's quality and potentially causing internal corrosion, further contaminating the diesel. If there are significant temperature differences, ensure proper tank insulation to maintain a stable internal temperature and reduce the impact of temperature fluctuations on diesel fuel performance.
2. Keep the Tank Clean
Regularly clean the inside of the tank, removing accumulated impurities and sludge from the bottom. These substances, if left behind, will react with the diesel fuel, accelerating its deterioration and potentially clogging pipelines. Before each refill of new diesel fuel, check the inside of the tank for cleanliness to ensure no residual contaminants are mixed in with the new fuel. Furthermore, keep the outside of the tank clean to prevent dust and debris from entering through the tank opening or gaps, providing a clean environment for diesel fuel storage.
3. Control the Quality of Diesel Fuel Injection
The diesel fuel injected into the tank must meet quality standards. Use qualified diesel fuel sourced from reputable channels, avoiding the use of inferior or deteriorated diesel to prevent it from affecting the quality of the original diesel fuel in the tank. During the injection process, ensure proper filtration to remove impurities and moisture from the diesel fuel, reducing the probability of contaminants entering the tank. For long-term diesel storage, add an appropriate amount of diesel stabilizer as needed to slow down oxidation and maintain good performance.
4. Strengthen Tank Sealing Protection
Ensure the tank has good sealing performance. Check that the tank opening, oil pipeline interfaces, valves, and other parts are tightly sealed to prevent air, moisture, dust, and other external substances from entering the tank. Regularly check the seals for aging or damage, replacing any faulty parts promptly to maintain a good seal. After each oil extraction or injection, promptly close the tank opening and check the seal to prevent external contaminants from entering, ensuring the diesel fuel inside the tank remains in a closed and clean storage environment and reducing the risk of deterioration.
