Rust on the inner wall of a fuel cube tank can contaminate fuel, corrode the tank, and affect equipment lifespan and operational safety. Rust removal requires selecting an appropriate method based on the degree of rust, balancing thoroughness with tank protection. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Preliminary Preparation
First, empty the remaining fuel from the tank, close the inlet and outlet fuel lines, and ensure proper sealing. Open the tank's ventilation openings to allow clean air to replace any remaining oil vapors, ensuring there are no flammable or explosive risks. Clean any sediment and oil residue from the tank to create a clean environment for rust removal. Simultaneously, ensure personnel protection, equipping them with anti-toxic and anti-corrosion gear.
2. Core Rust Removal Methods
For light rust, mechanical grinding can be used, employing handheld grinding tools to remove the rust layer without damaging the tank's substrate. For moderate to severe rust, sandblasting can be used, utilizing high-pressure airflow to drive abrasive particles to impact the rust layer, resulting in thorough rust removal and improved inner wall roughness for easier subsequent protection. Alternatively, an oil-resistant rust remover can be applied evenly, allowed to stand until the rust dissolves, then rinsed clean and dried.
3. Post-Rust Removal Protective Treatment
After rust removal, thoroughly clean the tank of rust residue and dust, and check the inner wall for any residual rust spots to ensure there is no risk of corrosion. Once the inner wall is completely dry, apply a specialized oil-resistant and corrosion-resistant anti-rust coating, evenly covering all areas of the inner wall, avoiding any missed areas. After the coating has dried and cured, apply a protective topcoat to enhance rust resistance and durability, preventing direct contact between fuel and the tank.
4. Operational Safety Precautions
Maintain good ventilation throughout the operation. Do not bring any sources of ignition into the tank area. When using chemical rust removers, control the dosage and reaction time to avoid corrosion of the tank. After the operation is completed, ventilate again, clean up any waste, and properly dispose of waste rust remover and rust residue to avoid environmental pollution and ensure the entire rust removal process is safe and compliant.
