1. Potential Hazards of Humid Environments
Humid environments accelerate the corrosion of the tank's metal components, especially weak points such as welds and joints, leading to rust and damage that compromises the tank's structural integrity. Moisture can easily seep into the tank through sealed gaps, mixing with the stored medium, reducing its purity, and even causing deterioration. Humidity also causes aging and deformation of sealing components, reducing sealing performance and affecting the conductivity of the anti-static grounding system, increasing the risk of static electricity buildup and indirectly raising safety risks. Prolonged dampness can also breed microorganisms, further contaminating the medium and exacerbating internal corrosion.
2. Suitable Protection Measures for Humid Environments
If humid areas cannot be avoided, the tank must be equipped with complete rain and moisture-proof facilities to ensure no water residue remains on the surface. Use moisture-resistant and corrosion-resistant tank coatings and sealing materials, regularly inspect and reapply protective layers to enhance the tank's moisture resistance. Install a drainage device at the bottom of the tank to promptly remove surrounding water and prevent prolonged immersion of the tank bottom. Install moisture-proof sleeves on sealed joints to prevent moisture ingress, and ensure proper moisture protection for the grounding device to guarantee stable conductivity.
3. Optimization and Adjustment of Storage Environment
Prioritize storing oil tanks in dry, well-ventilated, and elevated locations, away from low-lying areas prone to water accumulation and areas with high groundwater levels. Construct sunshades and rainproof canopies to prevent direct rainwater runoff from the tanks, while ensuring good ventilation within the canopy to reduce moisture buildup. Regularly clean drainage ditches around the tanks to ensure unobstructed drainage and prevent rainwater backflow or water stagnation. Place desiccants or dehumidifiers around the tanks to reduce local humidity and create a dry, protective environment.
4. Inspection and Maintenance in Humid Environments
Increase the frequency of inspections, focusing on checking for condensation and rust on the tank surface, and promptly clean away surface moisture and deposits. Regularly check the condition of sealing components; immediately replace any components found to be damp, aged, deformed, or damaged to ensure proper sealing. Monitor the condition of the medium inside the tank; if excessive moisture or turbidity is found, promptly perform dehydration and filtration. Regularly inspect the grounding system and anti-corrosion coating; repair any moisture-induced failures promptly to establish a routine protection mechanism for humid environments.
